In this leadership role, you'll oversee a team responsible for reviewing and issuing permits for oversized and overweight vehicle movements across the state. Requirements

  • Four years of experience in processing transportation permits.
  • Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will substitute for one year of the required experience. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.

Responsibilities

  • Lead Transportation Permit Operations – Supervise a team of Transportation Permits Supervisors, directing the review and issuance of oversized and overweight vehicle permits while ensuring compliance with state laws, regulations, and agency policies.
  • Evaluate Complex Routing & Safety Decisions – Analyze challenging permit requests, approve specialized routes and vehicle configurations, coordinate travel through construction zones, and work with law enforcement and other agencies to protect public safety and Louisiana's transportation infrastructure.
  • Provide Technical Leadership & Operational Support – Assist with developing policies and procedures, resolve complex permitting issues, communicate regulatory requirements to customers and stakeholders, maintain critical route and bridge data, and support 24/7 emergency permitting operations as needed.
