About The Position

The selected candidate will be placed in the classification in which they meet minimum qualifications. The Transportation Engineer 1 or Transportation Engineer 2 hire will complete ODOT’s Transportation Civil Engineering Program to include a 12-month training plan and scheduled rotation through the department’s core engineering disciplines: Planning & Engineering, Construction, and Highway Maintenance. What You Will Do: You will receive a thorough introduction to the three core civil engineering disciplines. You will work alongside ODOT professional engineers. You will receive hands-on transportation training & experience needed to further your career as an engineer with ODOT.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering
  • Accepted for Basic Fundamentals of Engineering Examination (EIT exam) by Ohio Board of Registration for Professional Engineers & Surveyors.
  • Valid certificate as Engineer-In-Training issued or accepted as equivalent by Ohio Board of Registration for Professional Engineers & Surveyors.
  • 12 months experience as Transportation Engineer 1, 85641.
  • 2 years engineering related experience.
  • Equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment may be substituted for the experience required, but not for the mandated registration.
  • Civil Engineering
  • Authorized to work in the United States.
