The Transportation Driver transports community residents to and from medical appointments, activities, and shopping errands using a community-owned vehicle. The driver reads the daily transportation schedule, helps ensure scheduled appointments can be met, and encourages residents to schedule transportation at least 24 hours in advance and, when possible, on designated days. The driver remains flexible for emergency transportation needs and revises the schedule as needed to stay with and assist residents who cannot independently access the community or their appointments. The position includes ensuring resident safety while loading, transporting, and unloading; conducting routine vehicle inspections and reporting maintenance problems or safety issues to the Administrator; and following community emergency procedures and fire and disaster plans. The driver must meet the position's requirements, including driver-record requirements, and complete ongoing training and driver requirements. Other duties may be assigned by any member of management.
