Transportation Construction Manager

About The Position

Johnson, Mirmiran & Thompson (JMT), a 100% employee-owned consulting firm with more than 2,800 professionals, is seeking transportation construction inspection professionals for its Central PA Team. The team serves the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission, and other local government agencies throughout the Central PA region. The successful candidate will serve as a principal inspector responsible for supervising construction inspection engineering work.

Responsibilities

Coordinate and supervise project inspection activities to ensure contractor compliance with plans, contract documents, specifications, and standards.
Assign, schedule, and maintain subordinate inspection staff throughout all project phases.
Review and maintain project documentation that accurately details construction progress, activities, and materials; meets environmental permitting conditions; complies with safety policies and programs; and monitors EEO and DBE progress and performance.
Prepare, review, and submit project inspection reports, work authorizations, work orders, and estimates.
Notify contractors of non-compliance and required corrective action.
Review, analyze, and evaluate contractor schedules.
Track project progress and advise parties about possible overruns and critical project issues.
Complete analyses of field tests.
Attend pre-bid, pre-construction, and/or management-level meetings throughout the project; assist the client with change orders and claim defense; and provide client updates on construction progress and issues.
Interact with the general public, government agencies, contractors, subcontractors, and other internal and external parties to respond to inquiries.
On behalf of the client, draft project correspondence, facilitate project meetings, and resolve construction-related field issues.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
