About The Position

Western Home Communities is seeking a compassionate and dependable Transportation Assistant II to safely transport residents to appointments, events, activities, and special outings. The role provides opportunities for meaningful one-on-one interaction with residents and supports positive experiences during each trip. Transportation duties may include driving groups of up to 24 passengers, including ambulatory and wheelchair residents, to destinations in the Cedar Falls, Jesup, Grundy Center, Ackley, and Madrid areas as needed. The position typically offers flexible hours ranging from 8–24 hours per week, depending on scheduled events and transportation needs.

Requirements

• A CDL with passenger endorsement.
• Comfort driving longer distances, including trips of approximately four hours round-trip.
• Ability to assist residents with mobility needs and safely operate transportation equipment.
• A good driving record that meets insurance company requirements.
• CPR certification, or willingness to obtain it.

Responsibilities

• Provide punctual transportation for residents traveling to appointments, events, and activities.
• Complete required service documentation in a timely manner.
• Assist residents with safe and efficient loading and unloading, including medical equipment.
• Interact with residents in a friendly and positive manner, helping create enjoyable community experiences.
• Operate transportation vehicles safely while ensuring passenger comfort and security.
• Spend meaningful one-on-one time with residents and help make each trip positive and enjoyable.
• Drive groups of up to 24 passengers, including ambulatory and wheelchair residents, to destinations in the listed service areas as needed.
