About The Position

The Transportation Analyst supports transportation operations through communication among agencies, departments, and customers, and analyzes information to support cost savings, problem solving, and improved departmental operations. The role analyzes transportation data, identifies opportunities for improvement, and implements strategies to enhance transportation efficiency. The analyst coordinates transportation operations, supports timely and cost-effective shipments, and may assist with vendor payments, equipment maintenance scheduling, customer order tracking, and customer-related issues.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in a related field, or equivalent education and/or experience.
2–4 years of relevant experience, or equivalent education and/or experience.
Strong knowledge of technical, process, and business principles, as well as industry practices and standards.
Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time effectively.
High integrity and discretion when handling sensitive and confidential data.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite products.

Responsibilities

Work on projects and assignments as part of the Transportation team.
Interpret facts and identify incomplete data or anomalies to solve problems.
Facilitate and coordinate transportation operations.
Manage fleet and carrier compliance with DOT and other agencies.
Coordinate with internal departments and external resources to deliver shipments on time and cost-effectively.
Conduct transportation analyses and research, and draw meaningful conclusions.
Negotiate prices and other matters with vendors, carriers, and contractors.
Identify cost-saving opportunities, including reducing unnecessary detention and demurrage costs.
May pay vendors supporting the OTR department.
May schedule preventive equipment maintenance, track customer orders upon request, assist with customer-related problems, and handle other transportation matters as assigned.
Perform other duties as needed.
