About The Position

The Transport Driver safely transports facility residents to and from appointments, provides customer service, and helps establish the level of care residents receive at The Center at Eden Hill, a skilled nursing facility providing physical rehabilitation and complex nursing care. The role involves preparing for appointments, assisting residents during visits, coordinating appointment and transportation orders, and ensuring that transportation equipment and vehicles are ready and safe to use.

Requirements

• Hold a current CNA license valid in the state of Delaware.
• Be at least 18 years old.
• Be able to stand, walk, stoop, and crouch repetitively.
• Be able to push at least 200 pounds for a long distance.
• Be able to lift bulky, heavy items weighing up to 100 pounds.
• Possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
• Possess and maintain a clean driving record.
• Be able to speak, read, and write English.

Responsibilities

• Review patient information before appointments to determine patient needs and verify information with nursing staff as necessary.
• Apply customer-service standards, resolve problems, and identify and complete improvements to the patient transportation system.
• Stay with patients at appointments and provide assistance upon request.
• Enter orders for appointments and transportation, and retrieve or send diagnostic labs needed for appointments.
• Determine the best route before departure and identify equipment needed to load and unload patients.
• Maintain operating and preventative-maintenance procedures for equipment and arrange repairs, oil changes, and related service.
• Provide and troubleshoot medical equipment needed for transport, including oxygen, wheelchairs, gurneys, and IVs.
• Maintain a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following and enforcing standards and procedures and complying with legal regulations.
• Transport new admissions and occasional discharges.
