About The Position

Ryder is hiring a solo Class A CDL truck driver in Lorton, Virginia, to shuttle equipment between Ryder customer facilities. The freight consists of empty trailers for equipment shuttle transfers and requires no freight handling. This is a local position with daily home time, scheduled Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The position pays $21.00 per hour, with weekly pay. Drivers have access to 24/7 roadside maintenance from Ryder-trained technicians, and service employees fuel trucks at Ryder maintenance facilities.

The role is primarily responsible for safely operating a commercial vehicle in compliance with safety and DOT regulations, completing ongoing training, and providing customer service. Ryder provides uniforms, a cell phone allowance, and a boot allowance. Requirements

• Be at least 21 years of age.
• Pass a Ryder drug test.
• Pass a Ryder background and motor vehicle check, including verification of drug and alcohol history with previous employers for the last three years.
• Pass a DOT physical.
• Pass a Ryder road test.
• Provide the appropriate CDL and endorsements for the position.
• Have Class A verifiable experience in a tractor-trailer or comparable vehicle: 9 months within the past 3 years, or 2 years within the past 5 years, or 5 years within the past 10 years.
• Be able to follow written and/or oral instructions.
• Be able to read, interpret, and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies, and/or procedures.
• Some assignments may require additional employment or education verification, a motor vehicle records check, a road test, and/or customer badging or background screening.

Responsibilities

• Safely drive a commercial vehicle while complying with safety and DOT regulations.
• Complete continuous training and provide customer service.
• Comply with applicable federal and state laws, regulations, agency rules, standards, and guidelines.
• Detect and eliminate or minimize safety hazards.
• Maintain accurate records and logs.
• Perform other tasks as assigned.
