About The Position

Ryder is hiring a Class A CDL truck driver in Newburgh, New York, to shuttle equipment between Ryder customer facilities. The role involves transferring empty trailers and is no-touch freight. Drivers operate well-maintained trucks that are 36 months or newer, with 24/7 roadside maintenance and fueling available at more than 800 nationwide maintenance locations.

The position pays $28.00 per hour, with weekly pay of $1,120 or more. The local schedule is Tuesday through Saturday, with drivers home daily. Start times are 3:30 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 7:00 a.m. Saturday. The job requires safe commercial driving, compliance with safety and DOT regulations, ongoing training, and customer service.

Requirements

• Be at least 21 years of age.
• Pass a Ryder drug test.
• Pass a Ryder background and motor vehicle check, including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last three years.
• Pass a DOT physical and a Ryder road test.
• Provide the appropriate CDL and endorsements for the position.
• Have Class A verifiable experience in a tractor-trailer or comparable vehicle: 9 months within the past 3 years, or 2 years within the last 5 years, or 5 years within the last 10 years.
• Be able to follow written and/or oral instructions.
• Be able to read, interpret, and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies, and/or procedures.

Responsibilities

• Safely drive a commercial vehicle while complying with safety and DOT regulations.
• Ensure compliance with applicable federal and state laws, regulations, agency rules, standards, and guidelines.
• Detect and eliminate or minimize safety hazards.
• Maintain accurate records and logs.
• Provide customer service and participate in continuous training.
• Shuttle equipment between Ryder customer facilities, including empty-trailer equipment transfers.
• Perform other tasks as assigned.
