About The Position

Ryder is hiring a solo Class A CDL Truck Driver in Lorton, Virginia, for local equipment shuttle transfers between Ryder customer facilities. The driver transports empty trailers, and the freight is no-touch. The position pays $21.00 per hour with weekly pay and is scheduled Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with the driver home daily. Ryder provides 24/7 roadside maintenance support from Ryder-trained technicians, and service employees fuel trucks at Ryder maintenance facilities. The role is primarily responsible for safely operating a commercial vehicle while complying with safety and DOT regulations, completing continuous training, and providing customer service. Requirements

Be at least 21 years of age.
Pass a Ryder drug test.
Pass a Ryder background and motor vehicle check, including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last three years.
Pass a DOT physical and a Ryder road test.
Provide the appropriate CDL and endorsements for the position.
Have a Class A CDL and verifiable tractor-trailer or comparable-vehicle experience meeting one of these thresholds: 9 months within the past 3 years, 2 years within the last 5 years, or 5 years within the last 10 years.
Be able to follow written and/or oral instructions.
Be able to read, interpret, and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies, and/or procedures.
Some assignments may require additional employment or education verification, motor vehicle records checks, road tests, or customer badging or background screening.

Responsibilities

Safely drive a commercial vehicle in compliance with safety and DOT regulations.
Shuttle equipment between Ryder customer facilities, moving empty trailers.
Ensure compliance with applicable federal and state laws, regulations, agency rules, standards, and guidelines.
Detect, eliminate, or minimize safety hazards.
Maintain accurate records and logs.
Complete continuous training and provide customer service.
Perform other tasks as assigned.
