About The Position

Ryder is hiring a Class A CDL Transfer Driver in Newburgh, New York. The role involves shuttling equipment between Ryder customer facilities, moving empty trailers, and providing safe, compliant commercial driving with customer service. Drivers are home daily and work Tuesday through Saturday, starting at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 7:00 a.m. Saturday. Pay is $28 per hour, with stated weekly earnings of $1,120 or more. Ryder provides trucks that are 36 months old or newer, 24/7 roadside maintenance, and fueling at more than 800 nationwide maintenance locations.

Requirements

• Be at least 21 years of age.
• Pass a Ryder drug test.
• Pass a Ryder background and motor vehicle check, including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last three years.
• Pass a DOT physical.
• Pass a Ryder road test.
• Provide the appropriate CDL and endorsements for the position.
• Have Class A verifiable experience in a tractor-trailer or comparable vehicle: 9 months within the past 3 years, or 2 years within the last 5 years, or 5 years within the last 10 years.
• Be able to follow written and/or oral instructions.
• Be able to read, interpret, and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies, and/or procedures.

Responsibilities

• Safely drive a commercial vehicle while complying with safety and DOT regulations, completing continuous training, and providing customer service.
• Shuttle equipment between Ryder customer facilities, including empty trailers for equipment transfer movements.
• Ensure compliance with applicable federal and state laws, regulations, agency rules, standards, and guidelines.
• Detect and eliminate or minimize safety hazards.
• Maintain accurate records and logs.
• Perform other tasks as assigned.
