About The Position

As a Transfer Care Specialist, you are often families’ first point of contact while transporting the deceased from nursing homes, hospitals, residences, or coroner’s offices to the funeral home. As a representative of the funeral home, you must remain composed in challenging situations and act with compassion and kindness. The role includes responding to families’ questions and directing them to appropriate resources, transporting the deceased safely, completing required paperwork, and performing other duties as needed. The position requires on-call availability for irregular hours, including nights and weekends, and may involve filling in for funeral attendants and full-time staff shifts to drive a hearse.

Requirements

• Must be at least 21 years old.
• Valid state-issued driver’s license and clean driving record.
• Ability to safely lift 100 pounds.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Composure and compassion.
• Ability to follow detailed instructions and receive and apply constructive feedback with a positive attitude.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective internal and external work processes.
• Familiarity with GPS or direction apps.

Responsibilities

• Respectfully answer families’ questions and direct them to appropriate resources upon arrival and departure for a transfer.
• Safely transport the deceased, navigating local roads and highways in varying traffic, time-of-day, and weather conditions.
• Remain available for irregular, on-call hours, including nights and weekends.
• Fill in for funeral attendants and full-time staff shifts to drive a hearse as needed.
• Complete paperwork correctly and promptly in accordance with relevant laws and regulations.
• Receive instructions for multiple tasks, determine their ideal order, and complete them promptly.
• Maintain a neat and presentable appearance.
• Perform other projects and duties as needed, such as washing vehicles.
