About The Position

The 6th Judicial District is seeking a Transcriptionist to produce accurate transcripts of judicial proceedings from both tape and digital recordings. This role involves certifying the accuracy of transcripts, processing requests, engaging in written correspondence, and maintaining records. The Transcriptionist will also perform administrative duties under the supervision of the Court Administrator.

Requirements

  • Graduation from high school or equivalent
  • At least one year of court-related experience
  • Experience with computer programs, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PDF software
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with other employees

Nice To Haves

  • One to two years experience as a typist, including knowledge of the format and requirements of transcript preparation

Responsibilities

  • Produce accurate transcripts of judicial proceedings from both tape and digital recordings as requested.
  • Certify accuracy of transcripts prepared.
  • Process transcript requests and engage in written correspondence with requestors.
  • Maintain records and filing systems to facilitate storage and retrieval of transcripts prepared.
  • Perform some administrative duties as assigned under the supervision of the Court Administrator.
