The primary role of the training specialist is to lead programs related to all employee onboarding, EHS training, bid transfer training and job certification, in a manufacturing environment. This role involves performing and instructing classroom training and practical/on-the-job training for new hires, including orientation, job bids, or transfers to a department/new job. It also includes providing training when safety, quality, or performance corrective action is needed, or when changes in methods or equipment require new or re-training. The specialist will prepare, issue, and maintain training materials, create and update training schedules, monitor and report training progress, and follow up with trainees to ensure timely completion. The role may also assist with new hire and contractor orientation, investigate training requirements, and suggest improvements to the training program related to Environmental Health & Safety, Quality, Total Productive Maintenance, and Lean Principles. Additionally, the role involves gathering feedback to improve training effectiveness, updating or writing work instructions, and helping to identify and develop on-the-job trainers. Support for community outreach and recruiting may also be part of the responsibilities.
