About The Position

The Training Coordinator supports the Zoo & Aquarium’s learning program by conducting orientation sessions for employees and volunteers, and assisting with other professional development opportunities. This position requires strong interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and evening hours, in all weather extremes. The Training Coordinator will also assist the Human Resources Department by performing various tasks and serving as a backup to other department employees, ensuring vital responsibilities may be performed in case of absence.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and public speaking skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to represent the company in a professional and positive manner.
  • Must have valid driver’s license.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays and evening hours, in all weather extremes.
  • Must be willing to obtain CPR/AED/First Aid Instructor Certification.
  • Must pass a background and drug screening.

  • Previous administrative/office experience desired.

Responsibilities

  • Leads orientation training processes, including conducting employee and volunteer orientation sessions, coordinating orientation logistics, organizing and maintaining orientation materials, providing ongoing support for new employees, and incorporating strategies to accommodate diverse learning styles.
  • Assists the Learning & Development Manager with employee and volunteer development opportunities, including maintaining learning management system records, partnering with departments to evaluate training needs, organizing and/or conducting department/industry specific training, delivering safety and compliance related training, delivering CPR/AED/First Aid training, and supporting the execution of other learning and development programs.
  • Performs administrative tasks and serves as backup for various HR roles, as needed.
  • May perform other duties or special projects as assigned.
