About The Position

The purpose of this position is to support the development of the skills and competencies of the New Jersey sites through on-the-job training, skills evaluation and development programs. This position will also assist with the coordination and documentation of training programs delivered in MFI facilities while collaborating with production management, human resources and safety to continuously improve on-site learning and development (L&D). Additionally, this position will assist in the development and maintenance of the Michael Foods Execution System (MES) elements. This position has the responsibility to always comply with Safety work rules as well as an obligation to reinforce Safety as a Core Value. Ensures that all policies, procedures and activities, related to Food Safety & Quality, are followed and complied with uniformly, to reduce product and process variability.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or equivalent.
  • Extensive work experience and knowledge of all equipment in the area of support including best operating practices, principles of operation, operational parameters, fault finding and corrective action on equipment and systems.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and in group situations.
  • Ability to respond to questions from internal/external customers/vendors at all levels including management.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, and diagram or schedule form.
  • Driver’s license
  • Ability to work flexible hours both day and nights shifts, alternating between shifts to meet training needs.
  • Ability to multi-task, deal with employees with diverse backgrounds and good problem-solving skills.

  • The ability to effectively communicate in Spanish and English (both verbal and written) is preferred. This includes the ability to speak, read and comprehend safety instructions, rules and warnings for self and others in both normal and emergency situations.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direction, development, and oversight to on-the-job (OJT) trainers and subject matter experts (SME) across departments.
  • Build Train-the-Trainer capabilities within training team.
  • Responsible for input and accuracy of SRMP training matrix.
  • Be available to Lead or Co-Lead SRMP Element(s).
  • Develop learning and development capabilities per MFI L&D Assessment.
  • Provide insight into hiring process of new employees.
  • Coordinate external training resources.
  • Provide on-the-job training to new, entry-level, and transferred employees in the operation of equipment and processes, Standard Work Instructions and work practices and systems.
  • Assist Human Resources Department to ensure consistent implementation of the new hire orientation and onboarding process.
  • Support Supervisors on the Employee Training Qualification Program for Operations employees. This includes skills and competency assessments, training, and validation of trainees with respect to their performance against established training objectives and recommendation of additional skill requirements as needed.
  • Development, training and sustaining MES elements including but not limited to: Management Operating System (MOS), Centerlines, Clean-Inspect-Lubricate, Line Walks, Root Cause Analysis, and 5S.
  • Assist in developing Standard Work Instructions, checklists, and visual aids.
  • Source training materials from vendors and other plants compiling a training databank and library.
  • Maintain files of training materials and organized log(s) of all training conducted including benchmark strengths, new employee onboarding, and day-to-day training requirements.
  • Periodic attendance of training seminars, some of which will require out-of-town or overnight arrangements.
  • Work on any shift as needed to meet operational teams’ training needs.
  • Adhere to safe work practices, follow GMP’s, maintain sanitary conditions and ensure that product quality is maintained. Report to management any conditions or practices that may adversely affect food safety, food quality or personnel safety.
  • Adhere to all safety policies and procedures.
  • Accountable for a safe and healthy workplace for everyone. Adhere to all safety policies and procedures and incorporate safety and health in all jobs and tasks.
  • Adhere to Quality work practices, follow GMP’s, maintain sanitary conditions and ensure that product quality is maintained. Report to management any conditions or practices that may adversely affect food safety and quality.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
