About The Position

The Trained Medication Aide (TMA) administers medication in accordance with applicable laws, rules, and standards of practice under the supervision of a registered or licensed nurse. The role also provides direct resident care, including assistance with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), and requires the ability to obtain and accurately record residents’ vital signs and blood sugar readings. The TMA is a mandated reporter of maltreatment, neglect, and abuse involving vulnerable adult residents or tenants. Any alleged maltreatment, neglect, or abuse must be reported to a supervisor and the appropriate state agencies. The position also requires the ability to perform the essential duties and responsibilities of a Nursing Assistant Registered.

Requirements

TMA Certificate.
Nursing Assistant training and current registration on the Minnesota Aide Registry.

Responsibilities

Administer medications properly and in accordance with applicable laws, rules, and standards of practice, under the supervision of a registered or licensed nurse.
Provide direct resident care, including assistance with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs).
Document resident care and medication distribution concisely and accurately.
Obtain and record accurate blood sugar readings and vital signs.
Use correct body mechanics to promote safety for employees and residents.
Implement and oversee best practices and guidelines.
Communicate effectively with residents, coworkers, and supervisors.
Perform assigned tasks and duties dependably and maintain dependable attendance.
Report alleged maltreatment, neglect, or abuse of vulnerable adult residents or tenants to a supervisor and appropriate state agencies.
Complete the essential duties and responsibilities of a Nursing Assistant Registered.
