About The Position

Trailer Bridge is looking for an energetic and self-motivated go-getter to join our Maintenance team as a Trailer Welder / Mechanic. This position is primarily responsible for performing welding, fabrication, and structural repairs on trailers, chassis, and containers, while also supporting general trailer maintenance and mechanical repairs as needed. The Trailer Welder / Mechanic will inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain equipment in accordance with established maintenance and safety standards. This position plays an important role in ensuring Trailer Bridge equipment remains safe, reliable, and roadworthy while meeting customer service requirements.

Requirements

  • 1–2 years of welding experience required
  • Experience with MIG welding required
  • Ability to cut, grind, fit, fabricate, and weld metal components used in trailer and equipment repair
  • Ability to identify structural damage and determine appropriate welding or fabrication repairs
  • Ability to perform strenuous physical activity, including lifting up to 100 lbs., bending, kneeling, reaching, climbing, and working in awkward positions for extended periods
  • Must provide own hand and air tools
  • High School Diploma or equivalent

Nice To Haves

  • experience welding and repairing trailers, containers, chassis, or similar heavy equipment strongly preferred
  • Knowledge of trailer repairs, including electrical, brake and air systems, suspension, landing gear, interiors, doors, floors, body work, DOT inspections, and PM inspections preferred
  • Experience working with reefer containers or refrigerated trailer equipment is a plus
  • Experience performing PMs on gensets is a plus
  • Welding certification preferred

Responsibilities

  • Perform MIG welding, fabrication, and structural repairs on trailers, chassis, and containers, including repairing damaged frames, panels, doors, floors, and other metal components
  • Cut, grind, clean, and prepare metal surfaces and damaged areas for welding and fabrication
  • Inspect equipment to identify structural damage, cracks, corrosion, and other areas requiring welding or repair
  • Fabricate, fit, and install replacement metal components and parts as needed
  • Perform general trailer and container repairs, including inspecting and replacing lights, mud flaps, crank handles, tires, doors, flooring, and other components
  • Clean containers, perform washouts, remove rust, and prepare equipment and welding areas for repair
  • Assist with mechanical repairs involving electrical, brake and air systems, suspension, landing gear, and other trailer components as needed
  • Regularly access areas of equipment necessary to perform repairs and maintenance, including working in, on, or underneath equipment
  • Complete repair orders and attendance records accurately, legibly, and in a timely manner
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment and comply with all shop and workplace safety requirements
  • Maintain proficiency with equipment, welding techniques, tools, and technologies to enhance quality and productivity
  • Perform additional duties and projects as assigned by supervisor
