About The Position

Forward Air is seeking a self-motivated individual to join its maintenance team as a full-time Trailer Mechanic. The role maintains vehicles, trailers, and other mechanical equipment while complying with company policies and safe work practices and maintaining high customer service.

Requirements

Valid driver's license.
Prior experience with truck, trailer, and/or vehicle repair.
Strong mechanical aptitude.
Desire for a long-term career with an industry-leading company.
Ability to present and maintain a positive corporate image in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to proactively establish and maintain effective working relationships with support departments.
Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including extended hours as required.
Must have a basic set of tools.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
A can-do attitude and a will-do work ethic.

Responsibilities

Evaluate the condition of mechanical equipment and trailers.
Maintain equipment according to DOT regulations.
Perform minor trailer repairs.
Mount, dismount, and repair tires.
Perform minor cosmetic repairs.
Analyze and inspect vehicles, trailers, and mechanical systems to determine cost-effective maintenance, repair, or replacement options.
Maintain regular and dependable attendance.
Maintain the work area, tools, and equipment.
Operate diagnostic instruments and hand, electric, and air-driven tools.
Perform minor building and facility maintenance.
Enter repair data in maintenance software.
Keep shop and company tools clean and in good working order.
Perform other duties as assigned.
