About The Position

R+L Carriers has an immediate opportunity for a Trailer Mechanic at its Colonial Heights, Virginia Service Center. The role involves diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining trailers. The position is full-time, Monday through Friday, on the first shift from 9:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., with pay of $26.45–$37.60 per hour.

Requirements

• Experience performing equipment safety inspections and preparing safety documents required by the FMCSA, the company, and other applicable federal, state, or local regulations.
• Ability to interpret technical manuals.
• Experience repairing or replacing defective parts, components, or systems.
• Experience testing equipment for proper performance and to ensure work meets manufacturer specifications and legislated regulations.
• Experience with trailer preventive maintenance and repairs.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds.
• Must own personal tools.
• Must be dependable.
• Must be prepared to work in climate situations when needed.

Nice To Haves

• Experience using the Cetaris Maintenance Work Order System.
• Welding experience.
• Experience driving yard tractors and trailers.
• Previous experience working on Class 8 commercial vehicles.
• Sheet metal and composite panel repair experience.
• HPMECH.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose trailer problems.
• Repair trailers, including repairing or replacing defective parts, components, or systems.
• Perform overall trailer maintenance, including preventive maintenance.
• Conduct safety inspections and prepare required safety documentation.
• Test equipment to confirm proper performance and compliance with manufacturer specifications and applicable regulations.
