Trailer Technician/Mechanic
About The Position
Amerit Fleet Solutions is hiring a Trailer Technician/Mechanic in Middletown, Connecticut. The role involves maintaining and repairing trailers, diagnosing mechanical and electrical issues, conducting safety and compliance inspections, documenting work, and supporting fleet operations. The position pays $25.00–$32.00 per hour based on experience, with weekly pay every Friday. The schedule is Tuesday through Saturday, 10:00 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. The technician works in a mobile, outside, and/or shop environment, with exposure to dust, diesel fumes, noise, oils, greases, and other mechanical materials. The job requires frequent movement, use of tools and equipment, and the ability to work safely around large vehicles and in various weather conditions. Requirements
- At least 2 years of hands-on experience performing Class 7–8 trailer maintenance and repairs.
- Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Ability to own and maintain the personal tools and toolbox required for the role.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Willingness and ability to meet the physical demands of the position.
- Must be eligible to pass standard pre-employment screenings, including a drug screen and DOT physical if required.
- Ability to see and hear sufficiently to safely navigate the workspace.
Responsibilities
- Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on trailers.
- Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues.
- Conduct inspections to ensure vehicles meet safety and compliance standards.
- Accurately document repairs and complete work orders.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, including tools and equipment.
- Follow safety procedures and company policies.
- Collaborate with supervisors and team members to support fleet operations.
