About The Position

The Utica City School District is seeking qualified candidates for its Summer Sports Camps, specifically for the Track and Field program. This Youth Sports Summer Program is designed to keep youth active and safe during the summer months, supporting the district's mission to educate the whole child. The program aims to address challenges in urban communities, such as limited access to safe recreational outlets and a lack of structured programs. It promotes health and fitness through varied sports options, builds critical life skills and character, encourages academic and career exploration, increases equity and opportunity, and strengthens community and family ties.

Requirements

  • NYS Coaching Certification
  • Interscholastic coaching experience in Track and Field
  • CPR/FA for coaches or responding to emergencies/AED certification
  • Concussion Management Certification
  • Fingerprint Clearance

Responsibilities

  • Coach students in Track and Field.
  • Keep youth active and safe during the summer.
  • Support the district's mission to educate the whole child.
  • Address health, safety, engagement, and opportunity gaps for students.
  • Promote health and fitness through Track and Field.
  • Instill life skills such as discipline, responsibility, perseverance, and resilience.
  • Integrate academic components tied to sports, such as sports science and kinesiology.
  • Introduce students to future career pathways in athletics and health sciences.
  • Encourage family engagement and foster pride in student achievement and school district programming.
