About The Position

The City of Harrisonburg, located in the heart of the Shenandoah Valley, is seeking a creative, strategic, and collaborative leader as its next Tourism Manager. This role involves strengthening partnerships with businesses, arts organizations, and regional entities, with a passion for placemaking and enhancing the visitor experience. The ideal candidate will be a progressive innovator with excellent attention to detail and communication skills, contributing to a vibrant, modern, and diverse college community known for its local food, arts, culture, and historic roots.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree with coursework in marketing, tourism and/or hospitality management, public relations, communications, journalism, public administration, or related field.
• Moderate (1-3 years) experience in marketing and tourism.
• Supervisory experience.
• Valid Virginia driver's license or the ability to obtain one within a timeline deemed appropriate by the department.
• Ability to pass social media screening, DMV driving record review, credit history review, and criminal background investigation.
