Total Loss Specialist
About The Position
The Total Loss Specialist assists parties whose vehicles have suffered a total loss. The role evaluates, negotiates, and settles assigned auto total loss claims with client/members and claimants. It follows the total loss settlement process and monitors rental costs while working with appraisers, rental facilities, body shops, and salvage vendors. The specialist maintains an effective diary system, manages file inventory, and follows company and state rules and regulations. The position is located in one of Farm Bureau Financial Services’ two state offices: Lincoln, Nebraska, or West Des Moines, Iowa.
Requirements
- Experience with material damage claims, including auto, boats, motorcycles, and recreational equipment.
- A college degree or equivalent experience.
- High attention to detail.
- Service-oriented attitude.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills, and analytical ability.
- PC literacy and ability to effectively use company systems.
Nice To Haves
- Familiarity with Outlook, Microsoft Word, and Excel.
