About The Position

The Tooling Technician will be responsible for ensuring machinists are supplied with adequate tooling and equipment for each CNC machine in use. Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 1 Year manufacturing experience.
  • Ability to read and comprehend verbal and written instructions in English.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide all units of measure including decimal fractions.
  • Vision and depth perception suitable for use of inspection microscopes.
  • Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds.
  • Ability to either stand or walk for extended periods.
  • Must be able to independently dress tools
  • Must pass criminal background check and drug screen.
  • Eligible to work in an ITAR environment

Responsibilities

  • Maintains inventory for tools and other items needed to run CNC machines.
  • Works closely with Machinists, Scheduling, and Leadership to prioritize machine setup carts in order of need.
  • Cleans, dresses, and break down tooling using appropriate cleaning methods.
  • Selects holding fixtures, attachments, accessories, and materials for machines such as mills, lathes, jig borers, grinders, and shapers to maintain .0005 tolerances.
  • Documents all instances and circumstances of scrapped tooling utilizing proper forms and pass down reports.
  • Communicate effectively with peers on and off shift to ensure continuous effective machine utilization.
  • Routinely works with precision measuring tools like micrometers, calipers, and indicators.
  • Will measure tools for operators or less experienced team members.
  • Reports machine failures, non-conformance, spills, accidents, EHS concerns and maintenance requests immediately.
  • Participates in P5S initiatives; keep machinery clean and machine area clear of debris.
  • Address spills, gauges, and sensors immediately.
  • Responsible for performing audits of area to ensure compliance with P5S standards.
  • Performs basic preventative maintenance on machines daily and records. This includes cleaning and checking oil, coolant etc.
  • Adhere to all safety programs including PPE and safe operating practices.
  • May train others on departmental safety procedures.
  • Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.
