About The Position

The Tool Room Machinist will produce machine repair parts and other components from originals, drawings, or sketches. This position requires extreme attention to detail and a thorough knowledge of the work procedures and component applications. This position requires vast knowledge of work holding, fixturing, and machine setups. The tool room machinist works without machine setup instructions and must be able to accommodate and produce a wide variety of custom, diverse components.

Requirements

• High School diploma or GED
• Basic mechanical principles and mathematics
• 3 years manual machining experience
• 3 years CNC machining experience
• Demonstrated print reading ability
• Demonstrated mechanical and mathematical aptitudes (assessed by aptitude test)
• Read Blueprints
• Working knowledge of machining practices and techniques
• Ability to set up micrometers
• CNC and Manual experience
• Able to read blueprints
• Knowledge of machining practices & techniques, setup, tooling applications, machinability of materials, material characteristics and treatment applications, precision measurement tools
• Ability to use scale, calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, indicators, height gauges, and other measuring equipment

Responsibilities

• Produce machine repair parts and other components from originals, drawings, or sketches
• Plan and perform grinding and repair operations on a variety of dies and cutting tools having close and exacting tolerances
• Perform other duties as assigned
