ABB is seeking a Tool & Stamping Die Design Engineer specializing in motor lamination carbide progressive stamping dies and advanced metal forming technologies. The role is responsible for engineering, designing, developing, and continuously improving high-precision progressive and deep-draw stamping dies throughout their lifecycle. It calls for advanced technical expertise, independent judgment, and leadership in creating tooling solutions that support manufacturing performance, quality, cost, and productivity objectives. The position is onsite and reports to Antonio Hernandez, Engineering Manager, on the first shift. The designer leads complex stamping die design using CAD tools and prepares 3D models, strip layouts, and tooling documentation. The role includes performing engineering calculations, applying materials and manufacturing expertise, and optimizing tooling for performance, quality, durability, and cost. The designer owns tooling projects from concept through launch, including design-for-manufacturing reviews, coordination with stakeholders, risk management, and engineering changes. The position also drives tooling improvements using data analysis, resolves root causes, supports production, mentors technical teams, and maintains engineering standards and documentation. ABB’s NEMA Motors Division manufactures electric NEMA motors, with more than 4,500 employees globally and seven manufacturing locations producing more than 1.6 million motors annually. The posting describes health, life and disability coverage, paid parental leave, employee assistance and health advocate resources, an employee discount program, retirement savings and stock acquisition plans, and paid holidays.
