About The Position

Responsible for performing tire and wheel services safely, accurately, and efficiently while supporting the overall maintenance and service of vehicles. This role involves mounting and dismounting tires, balancing wheels, inspecting tires and vehicle components, operating tire service equipment and other shop machinery, and maintaining accurate inventory and service records. The tire technician is also responsible for identifying worn components and potential safety concerns during vehicle wellness inspections and communicating any issues to management. This position requires a strong attention to detail, commitment to safety, and general knowledge of automotive systems and components.

Requirements

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience or knowledge in the automotive industry.
  • General vehicle component knowledge of brakes, steering, and suspension.
  • Ability to perform vehicle wellness inspections (inspecting the vehicle for worn components and safety issues).
  • Valid driver’s license

Nice To Haves

  • New York State vehicle inspection license

Responsibilities

  • Pulls vehicles into tire bays, lifts vehicles, removes wheels/tires being serviced and dismounts tire/wheel.
  • Operates lifts, forklifts, torches, power wrenches, floor jacks, tire machine and tire balancer.
  • Place the wheel on the balancer to determine weights required to balance the wheel; put required weights onto rims.
  • Fills tires in accordance with correct vehicle specs.
  • Remounts tires/wheels onto vehicles.
  • Mounts tires and wheels on a vehicle in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Inventory system and locates merchandise as needed.
  • Move vehicles and merchandise without damaging vehicles, merchandise, people or property.
  • Prepares, organizes, maintains and inventories tires and wheels accurately and efficiently in accordance with company procedures.
  • Keeps accurate inventory of shop supplies and notifies management of low stock levels.
  • Keeps accurate records and logs of vehicle serviced information.
  • Assists all customers and co-workers while being polite and courteous at all times.
  • Follow all safety policies and procedures.
  • Knowledgeable of vehicle components and systems, including brakes, steering, and suspension.
  • Perform vehicle wellness inspections by identifying worn components, potential safety concerns, and other vehicle issues.
