About The Position

Goodwill Greater New York and Northern New Jersey (GWNYNJ) is seeking a Thrift Store Sales Specialist to deliver excellent customer service while supporting daily retail operations and Goodwill’s mission. The Specialist assists customers, processes transactions, replenishes merchandise, maintains store cleanliness, and helps ensure a positive shopping experience. The role also involves following store policies and supporting daily store operations. The position is based in Middletown, New York. The store operates Monday through Sunday, from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., and flexibility in availability is essential to meet business needs. The role involves handling pre-owned merchandise that may contain allergens, dust, or other substances. Goodwill provides training and protective equipment and follows safety protocols; employees are expected to follow safety guidelines and report concerns to management.

Responsibilities

Greet and assist customers promptly.
Support donors as needed and direct them to the designated donation drop-off area.
Restock merchandise on the sales floor in accordance with Goodwill’s visual standards.
Promote Goodwill’s Rewards and Round-Up programs.
Process sales transactions quickly and accurately.
Resolve customer concerns and escalate issues as needed.
Maintain a clean and organized sales floor, fitting rooms, and checkout area.
Follow store policies, including safety guidelines and occupancy limits when required.
Operate the register and thank customers for their purchases.
Monitor store entry and enforce safety measures if assigned.
Perform other duties as assigned to support the store team and organizational goals.
