About The Position
Goodwill Greater New York and Northern New Jersey is seeking a Thrift Store Sales Specialist to provide excellent customer service while supporting daily retail operations. The Specialist assists customers and donors, processes transactions, replenishes merchandise, maintains store cleanliness, and helps create a positive shopping experience. The role also includes following store policies and safety guidelines, enforcing applicable measures, and supporting the store team and Goodwill’s mission. The store operates Monday through Sunday, 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., and flexibility in availability is essential. Employees handle pre-owned merchandise that may contain allergens, dust, or other substances. Goodwill provides training and protective equipment, and employees are expected to follow safety protocols and report concerns to management.
Requirements

Responsibilities
- Greet and assist customers promptly.
- Support donors as needed and direct them to the designated donation drop-off area.
- Restock merchandise on the sales floor in compliance with Goodwill’s visual standards.
- Promote Goodwill’s Rewards and Round-Up programs.
- Process sales transactions quickly and accurately.
- Resolve customer concerns and escalate issues as needed.
- Maintain clean and organized sales-floor, fitting-room, and checkout areas.
- Follow store policies and safety guidelines, including occupancy limits when required.
- Operate the register and thank customers for their purchases.
- Monitor store entry and enforce safety measures if assigned.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the store team and broader organizational goals.
