About The Position

The ThinkBIG Scholarship Program is a paid, two-year college-level program offered in partnership with South Georgia Technical College (SGTC). This program combines academic courses with hands-on training at a local Thompson Tractor branch. Participants will earn an Associate's Degree in Applied Diesel Technology while gaining practical experience through paid internships and Caterpillar-specific training. The program focuses on generator operation, engine technology, and automatic transfer switch troubleshooting and repair.

Requirements

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• High school diploma or equivalent required at the start of the program.
• Possess a valid driver's license and maintain a clean driving record.
• Ability to pass a drug screen, physical, and background check.
• Meet SGTC and Thompson Tractor admission requirements.
• Achieve qualifying ACT, SAT, or ACCUPLACER scores.

Responsibilities

• Participate in rotational 8-week paid internships.
• Attend 8-week classroom and lab sessions at SGTC.
• Undergo Caterpillar-specific technical training.
• Engage in training focused on heavy equipment engines, marine propulsion systems, and power generator repair.
