About The Position

The ThinkBIG Scholarship Program is a paid, two-year college-level program offered by Thompson Tractor in partnership with South Georgia Technical College (SGTC). This program combines academic courses with hands-on training at a local Thompson Tractor branch. Participants will earn an Associate's Degree in Applied Diesel Technology while gaining practical experience through paid internships, Caterpillar-specific training, and advanced diagnostics on heavy equipment. The program's focus is on machine diagnostics and repair, covering engines, hydraulics, powertrains, and fuel systems.

Requirements

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• High school diploma or equivalent required at the start of the program.
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
• Ability to pass a drug screen, physical, and background check.
• Meet SGTC and Thompson Tractor admission standards.
• Qualifying ACT, SAT, or ACCUPLACER scores.

Responsibilities

• Participate in paid, rotating 8-week internships.
• Attend 8-week classroom and lab sessions at SGTC.
• Engage in Caterpillar-specific technical training.
• Perform diagnostics and repair on heavy equipment, including engines, hydraulics, powertrains, and fuel systems.
• Study heavy equipment engines, marine propulsion systems, and power generator repair.
