About The Position

Ochsner Rehabilitation Hospital, a joint venture/partnership/affiliation with Select Medical, is hiring a per diem Therapy Aide in New Orleans, Louisiana. The inpatient rehabilitation hospital provides care for people facing medical, physical, emotional, and vocational challenges related to brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, neurological disorders, orthopedic issues, amputation, and multiple traumas.

The Therapy Aide performs patient-related tasks assigned by a therapist, assists with transfers, positioning, equipment, and treatment preparation, and transports patients to and from therapy as needed. The role includes an extensive orientation program and potential advancement opportunities that could lead to full-time work. Part-time and per diem employees may be eligible for 401(k) after reaching 1,000 work hours within their first anniversary or a subsequent calendar year.

Requirements

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Certified in BLS, or complete BLS certification within the first 90 days of employment.

Nice To Haves

• One or more years of hospital experience as a therapy aide.

Responsibilities

• Performs patient-related tasks assigned by a therapist.
• Lifts patients to and from mats, treatment and tilt tables, wheelchairs, and other facility or department equipment.
• Assists patients with transfers to all surfaces.
• Assists patients in donning and doffing appliances specific to the facility or department.
• Positions patients in parallel bars and prepares them for standing with appropriate orthotic or prosthetic devices and equipment.
• Transports patients to and from therapy as needed.
• Assists the therapist with other appropriate patient-related treatment activities and provides equipment.
• Assists with patient-related activities, including equipment setup and patient positioning in preparation for therapy sessions, as outlined in the State Practice.
