Therapeutic Childcare Assistant
About The Position
Tanager is seeking a compassionate, dependable, and flexible part-time Therapeutic Childcare Assistant for its Bright Foundations program in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The role supports children in a therapeutic classroom by providing direct care, supervision, and support. The assistant helps maintain a safe, nurturing, and structured environment, supports children’s social, emotional, and developmental goals, assists with classroom routines, therapeutic interventions, and developmentally appropriate activities, and works with the TCC supervisor and interdisciplinary team to support treatment goals through trauma-informed, relationship-based care. The position offers flexible scheduling opportunities and is suited to someone who enjoys working with children and collaborating with a team.
Requirements
- Previous experience working with children.
- Must be at least 17 years of age.
- Must have a high school diploma or high school equivalence.
- Must hold current CPR, First Aid, and Mandatory Child Abuse Reporter Training certifications, or become certified within the first three months of hire.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct care, supervision, and support to children enrolled in the Therapeutic Child Care program.
- Help maintain a safe, nurturing, and structured classroom environment.
- Support children’s social, emotional, and developmental goals.
- Assist with classroom routines, therapeutic interventions, and developmentally appropriate activities.
- Collaborate with the TCC supervisor and interdisciplinary team to support children’s treatment goals through trauma-informed and relationship-based care.
