Test Infrastructure Engineer
About The Position
Zoox is seeking a Test Infrastructure Engineer to lead development of test infrastructure supporting manufacturing tests for its autonomous vehicles. The role drives design and development of infrastructure and platform components, including databases, REST APIs, containerization, CI/CD pipelines, and tester orchestration. It collaborates closely with manufacturing, hardware, and software teams. The engineer contributes to test frameworks for factory testing at Zoox manufacturing sites; designs and implements server infrastructure for manufacturing tests; develops applications and common code libraries supporting manufacturing processes and test engineers; and builds dashboards for manufacturing data, including throughput and tester utilization metrics.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field; a master’s degree is preferred.
- At least 6 years of industry experience in software development focused on on-premises or cloud infrastructure.
- Exposure to manufacturing-system technologies such as MRP, MES, MQTT, SCADA systems, and IoT devices.
- Experience with cloud deployment and infrastructure technologies such as Kubernetes, Terraform, and AWS.
- Deep Python programming background, including scripting, web services, tool development, and test frameworks.
- Working knowledge of Pytest.
- Experience building dashboards and alerting systems to monitor infrastructure health.
- Knowledge of Git and CI/CD pipelines, reproducible builds, deployment strategies, and supporting infrastructure.
- Experience with Linux system administration and server management.
Nice To Haves
- Experience with server fleet management technologies such as Salt, Ansible, Puppeteer, or Slurm.
- Experience with system design, including databases, web servers, and containerization such as Docker.
- Experience deploying applications to cloud environments such as AWS and to on-premises or bare-metal servers.
- Familiarity with Prometheus and Grafana metrics, dashboarding, and logging ecosystem (LGTM stack).
- Master’s degree in a related field.
