About The Position
The Strait Regional Centre for Education (SRCE) is seeking applicants for a term position. This role involves teaching Core French (grades 6-9), Social Studies (grade 8), Healthy Living (grades 7-9), and Visual Arts (grade 9). The SRCE is part of the public education system in Nova Scotia, established on April 1, 2018, to support student learning, achievement, well-being, and overall success. The SRCE operates 20 schools with approximately 5,948 students and 375 children in pre-primary programs across 14 locations. The jurisdiction covers Antigonish, Guysborough, Inverness, and Richmond counties. Teachers hired or recalled into new positions will be required to participate in New Teacher training if they have not already done so.
Requirements
- Valid teacher certification for the Province of Nova Scotia
- Methodology courses, experience, or practicum teaching in the subject area at the appropriate level for the competition
- Excellent classroom and student management skills
- Knowledge and experience in the application of technologies used to enhance instruction and learning
- Knowledge and/or experience in implementing inclusive teaching and assessment strategies
- High level of proficiency in both written and spoken French (approved through the SRCE French proficiency testing)
