About The Position
Xcel Energy is seeking a Temporary Meter Reader to join their team in Fort Collins, Colorado. This role involves reading residential and commercial gas and electric meters, entering data into a handheld computer system, reporting irregularities, communicating with customers, and identifying hazardous conditions. The position requires significant daily walking, entering customer premises, and dealing with various terrains and animals. The job also involves exposure to inclement weather and requires flexibility, teamwork, and a strong safety consciousness. Successful candidates may have the opportunity for permanent, benefited employment after the initial six months.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to walk 10-12 miles per day
- Previous customer service experience
- High level of accuracy and ability to meet strict deadlines
- Requires a valid driver's license and a personal vehicle to be used for the meter reading assignments
- Knowledge of handheld computers helpful
