About The Position

The Temporary Facilities Laborer is responsible for cleaning, maintenance, and process support at the commercial building site to keep the surrounding environment clean and suitable for work. This is an on-site role in Jewell, Iowa. The role includes landscaping and lawn care, internal and external building cleaning and maintenance, supporting facility projects and repairs, and operating POET fleet vehicles for maintenance service and cleanup. The laborer is expected to foster safe behavior and environmental compliance, contribute to a team environment, represent POET in the community, and help maintain and advance food safety and product quality. Duties may also include other work as needed to support the team.

The position involves working indoors and outdoors, including at heights of approximately 150 feet, in confined spaces, and in temperatures from -20 to +100 degrees Fahrenheit. Team members must wear required personal protective equipment. Training is provided for listed tools and equipment. The role is safety-sensitive and requires a pre-employment physical and drug screen, as well as random drug and alcohol testing during employment.

Requirements

• Ability to work at heights of approximately 150 feet, in confined spaces, and in indoor and outdoor temperatures from -20 to +100 degrees Fahrenheit.
• Ability to use the listed tools and equipment with training provided.
• Frequently walk on slippery surfaces; grip with up to 20 pounds of force; push and pull with up to 30 pounds of force; bend forward while standing; and use repetitive arm motions.
• Occasionally lift and carry up to 50 pounds, with or without assistance, and work in awkward back, shoulder, wrist, and hand positions.
• Pass a pre-employment physical and drug screen; submit to random drug and alcohol testing during employment.

Responsibilities

• Perform general landscaping and lawn care, including watering, mowing, weed maintenance, trimming and replacing shrubs, and applying lawn fertilizers.
• Clean and maintain interior and exterior building areas, including cleaning windows, painting handrails, equipment or guards, replacing light bulbs, and general cleanup.
• Access and use facilities equipment to complete work throughout the campus.
• Support facility projects and repairs by picking up parts, assisting with equipment repairs, cleaning equipment components, and shadowing technician roles.
• Operate POET fleet vehicles for maintenance service and cleanup.
• Promote safe behavior and environmental compliance at all times.
• Maintain a team environment and represent POET in the community.
• Help maintain and advance food safety and the quality of POET products and processes.
• Perform other duties as needed to support the team.
