About The Position
ATA Services is seeking a full-time Telephone Operator for its client, Hawaii's State Hospital, in Kaneohe, Hawaii. The role provides communication services and operates a multiple-line telephone console to receive and place local, long-distance, and interisland calls. The operator provides information to callers, staff, and visitors and monitors emergency signal and alarm systems. The schedule is 20–40 hours per week, with day, evening, and overnight shifts available. The starting hourly pay rate is $20.30.
Requirements
- Ability to use a multiple-line telephone console.
- Ability to write and communicate proficiently and legibly.
- Ability to perform clerical tasks.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs.
- Ability to lift and carry moderately heavy packages, supplies, and equipment weighing 25–50 pounds, or to compensate satisfactorily.
Responsibilities
- Operate a multiple-line telephone console to receive and place incoming and outgoing local, long-distance, and interisland calls.
- Provide information to callers, staff, and visitors.
- Monitor emergency signal and alarm systems.
- Maintain a log of daily activities, including long-distance calls, emergency communications, alarms, and codes.
- Maintain and update the daily calendar, patient information log, staff contact information, and visitor log.
- Issue safety equipment to staff and personnel.
- Renew employee ID cards and update related information.
- Receive patients’ valuables and log the information.
- Handle after-hours duties, including mail handling and receiving patients’ valuables and monies.
- Maintain custody of select keys.
