About The Position

SOVAH Health - Danville is seeking a Telemetry Technician to perform telemetry monitoring under the supervision of an RN. The position is based in the Critical Care Unit/Stepdown and is an in-person, full-time night-shift role in Danville, Virginia. The technician monitors multiple patients, identifies significant arrhythmias and signs of distress, communicates relevant findings to nursing staff, and helps ensure monitoring equipment is working properly.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
• Obtain Handled with Care (HWC) certification within 6 months of hire or transfer.

Nice To Haves

• EMT, LPN, or Telemetry certification.
• Previous work experience as an EMT or Certified Technician.

Responsibilities

• Perform continual surveillance of multiple monitors.
• Identify significant arrhythmias and/or signs of patient distress and intervene appropriately.
• Identify and correct artifacts.
• Report abnormal assessment and telemetry findings, or changes in patients’ physical, mental, and emotional conditions, to nursing staff.
• Test equipment to ensure it is in proper working order.
• Report equipment problems to the supervisor.
