About The Position

HCA Florida West Marion Hospital is hiring a PRN Communications Operator / Switchboard Specialist to support HCA Florida Ocala and West Marion Hospitals and stand-alone emergency facilities. The operator serves as a central communications resource, handling multi-line communications, dispatching maintenance requests, coordinating physician paging, and monitoring critical life-safety alarms and emergency codes. The role requires dependable, punctual, flexible attendance for on-call and as-needed shift coverage.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED equivalent.
Experience with multi-line switchboards and Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Office.
Exceptional multitasking and active-listening skills.
A calm demeanor under pressure and the ability to work independently.
Successfully complete standard healthcare background checks and drug screening, and sign confidentiality and HIPAA agreements.

Responsibilities

Monitor and rapidly dispatch critical hospital alarms and emergency codes.
Route high-volume incoming calls and coordinate physician paging and consults.
Take, process, and dispatch plant and maintenance work orders.
Follow HCA safety, privacy, and operational standards.
