About The Position

Yavapai County Information Technology Services (ITS) is seeking a Technology Unit Manager to lead a team of systems engineers and service desk personnel. The role focuses on providing exceptional customer service to county departments, understanding customers’ IT-related business needs, and developing innovative, secure, and efficient solutions. The manager will bring technical expertise and management skills to foster collaboration across departments and drive continuous improvement in systems, applications, and infrastructure.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems or a closely related field; an equivalent combination of directly related work experience and education may substitute for the degree requirement on a year-per-year basis.
A minimum of five years of experience in IT management, staff development, organizational budgeting, personnel management, and/or related fields.
Must possess a valid Arizona driver’s license.

Responsibilities

Enforce and monitor compliance with IT policies and procedures.
Prepare and monitor the budget for the assigned IT business unit.
Work with county department customers to determine solutions that meet best-practice standards.
Participate in budgeting, departmental policy development and maintenance, and organizational quality improvement activities.
Assist senior management in developing strategic goals, standards, protocols, and procedures.
Participate in evaluating new software, hardware, and systems.
Prepare requests for proposals (RFPs) and review submitted proposals.
Supervise assigned staff and manage multiple concurrent work assignments.
Direct and manage the work of staff in the assigned unit.
Participate in interviewing and selecting new employees.
Provide training and instruction, and evaluate ongoing training needs.
Assign tasks, review work, and prepare employee performance evaluations.
Provide input regarding employee transfers, promotions, and disciplinary actions.
Serve as the point of contact and subject matter expert for IT system-related projects with internal customers and outside vendors, including coordinating contracted IT consultants.
Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
