International Visual CorporationMontreal, QC

About The Position

Reporting to the Design team, the Design and Production Support Technician acts as a key link between design, pre-production, and manufacturing. The role provides timely support by making necessary corrections and adaptations to 3D models and production drawings, resolving technical issues, and ensuring projects are ready for manufacturing. The ideal candidate has strong SolidWorks skills, a problem-solving mindset, and the ability to collaborate effectively with multiple teams in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

  • Strong working knowledge of SolidWorks.
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Good understanding of fabrication, assembly methods, BOMs, and production drawings.
  • Experience working with ERP systems.
  • Fluent in both French and English, written and spoken.
  • Excellent organizational and documentation skills.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to clearly articulate technical issues.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and make sound judgments in a fast-moving manufacturing environment.
  • Confidence to raise a flag when a requested change could have broader consequences rather than simply executing the modification.
  • Practical, solutions-oriented mindset and ability to collaborate with both technical and production teams.

Responsibilities

  • Work directly with Pre-Production and Production to make design corrections, adaptations, and last-minute changes required to get projects into production.
  • Modify 3D models and production drawings in SolidWorks to resolve design issues, missing information, and production requirements.
  • Step in when Design resources or competencies are not available to quickly address production needs and keep projects moving.
  • Document design changes and maintain accurate information in the ERP system.
  • Communicate production-related design issues and feedback to the Design team.
  • Identify and escalate changes that may impact design intent, functionality, appearance, cost, or client expectations.
  • Work closely with Design, Pre-Production, Production, and Estimating to ensure designs are production-ready.
  • Recognize which corrections are one-time production fixes and which should be incorporated into the standard design library.
