About The Position

Thompsons Auto Group is seeking an experienced Service Technician for its Thompsons Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram location in Placerville, California. The technician diagnoses and repairs mechanical and electrical vehicle issues, performs preventative maintenance, and communicates repair details and cost estimates to Service Advisors. The role works closely with other technicians and team members, stays current with manufacturer guidance and diagnostic tools, and follows safety procedures and applicable regulations. Work is primarily in a service bay.

Requirements

• Previous experience as an automotive technician; dealership experience is preferred.
• Proficiency using diagnostic tools, performing mechanical repairs, and completing electronic and safety inspections.
• Attention to detail and ability to work precisely.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Commitment to maintaining a neat, professional appearance and representing the company's core values.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver's license.
• Own set of basic automotive tools.

Nice To Haves

• ASE certification or manufacturer-specific certifications.
• Technical training or certification.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose mechanical and electrical vehicle issues and perform repairs accurately and efficiently.
• Perform routine maintenance, including oil changes, tire rotations, brake checks, and fluid top-offs.
• Communicate repair details and cost estimates to Service Advisors.
• Collaborate with other technicians and team members to provide customer service.
• Stay current on manufacturer guidelines, technical service bulletins, and diagnostic tools.
• Follow safety protocols and federal, state, and local regulations.
