About The Position
Bob Johnson Auto Group is seeking a skilled and motivated Flat Rate Automotive Technician to join our growing service team. We are looking for a dependable professional who takes pride in quality workmanship, values safety, and thrives in a fast-paced dealership environment. As an Automotive Technician, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining customer vehicles to the manufacturer and dealership standards.
Requirements
- NYS Inspector’s License – Required
- Proven experience as an automotive technician or mechanic
- Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
- High level of dependability, persistence, and attention to detail
- Commitment to safety management and compliance standards
- Physical ability to lift and perform hands-on mechanical work
- Strong attendance and reliability record
- Comfortable working in a flat-rate, performance-based environment
- Detail orientated and thorough, organized
- Critical thinking and troubleshooting skills
- NYS INSPECTORS LICENSE REQUIRED
Nice To Haves
- ASE certification a plus
Responsibilities
- Inspecting and testing vehicles to ensure safe and reliable operation
- Performing routine maintenance including engine tune-ups, oil changes, tire rotations, wheel balancing, and filter replacements
- Diagnosing and repairing mechanical and electrical system malfunctions
- Repairing engine failures and replacing parts and components as needed
- Conducting test drives to verify vehicle serviceability and proper repairs
- Ensuring compliance with New York State vehicle inspection requirements, including engine, safety, and emissions standards
- Maintaining accurate and detailed service and repair records
- Staying current on automotive technology by participating in training, educational opportunities, and reviewing technical publications
- Basic computer skills
- Supporting the overall service department and dealership goals as needed
