About The Position

The Technician, Facility Services, Exterior Services is responsible for managing and executing exterior maintenance projects to ensure safe, functional, and visually appealing facility environments. This role involves coordinating work assignments, overseeing material procurement, and maintaining compliance with safety and environmental regulations. The technician operates and inspects equipment, performs seasonal landscaping and snow management, and supports cost control initiatives. By collaborating with internal teams and third-party providers, this position ensures quality standards are met while contributing to sustainable facility improvements and operational efficiency. Area 89A operates as a unified team focused on delivering exceptional exterior maintenance services. Members collaborate closely, beginning daily tasks promptly after guidance, and emphasize quality landscape care, including mowing, trimming, and weed control. The team is dedicated to maintaining well-kept outdoor areas that uphold Walmart’s standards and enhance the facility’s appearance. Attention to detail, proactive problem-solving, and commitment to continuous learning are key values. This group plays a vital role in ensuring a safe, an environment that positively supports the overall customer experience and facility operations.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in exterior facility maintenance, including mowing, trimming, lawn care, and weed control.
  • Ability to operate and maintain powered equipment and heavy machinery safely and efficiently.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA and EPA regulations, ensuring compliance with safety and environmental standards.
  • Skilled in project planning, prioritization, and workforce management to meet operational goals.
  • Competence in troubleshooting, quality assurance inspections, and resolving customer concerns effectively.
  • Experience managing budgets, sourcing materials, and controlling costs through price comparisons.
  • Commitment to upholding company policies, ethics, and integrity in all work activities.
  • 2 years' experience in the landscaping/gardening industry.
  • Valid state-issued driver's license

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s degree or equivalent in Engineering, Maintenance, Construction Management, or related area.
  • Experience in third-party management.
  • Experience using intermediate level functionality of word processing, spreadsheet, email, and presentation software (for example, Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • State/local licensing where required (for example, Florida, Texas, California).

Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain exterior facility equipment, including mowing, trimming, and lawn care to ensure safe grounds.
  • Manage seasonal exterior maintenance activities such as snow and ice removal, applying de-icing materials, and clearing walkways.
  • Plan, prioritize, and execute scheduled projects while coordinating with third-party providers and Home Office support.
  • Source, approve, and verify purchases of parts, materials, and equipment to support facility needs and cost control.
  • Conduct quality assurance inspections and troubleshoot facility issues to maintain compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
  • Maintain vehicles and equipment in safe, functional condition, performing routine checks and coordinating repairs.
