About The Position

The Technician, Facility Services, Exterior Services, is responsible for managing and executing exterior maintenance projects to ensure safe, functional, and compliant facility environments. This role involves coordinating resources, overseeing scheduled work, and maintaining equipment while adhering to safety and environmental regulations. The position requires effective communication with facility users and leadership, troubleshooting issues, and implementing improvements to optimize operations and reduce costs. The Technician supports company standards by modeling integrity, collaborating with teams, and driving continuous enhancements to maintain high-quality exterior services aligned with organizational goals. The team supports Walmart Supercenters and Sam’s Clubs by maintaining landscapes through mowing, trimming, and related projects. They manage scheduled assignments with a focus on quality and safety compliance, coordinating resources efficiently. Team members conduct equipment inspections and adhere to safety standards, including OSHA guidelines. Effective communication and project management are essential to meet operational goals. This group plays a vital role in sustaining facility aesthetics and functionality, contributing to a well-maintained environment that supports business operations and enhances customer satisfaction.

Requirements

  • Proven ability to manage departmental operations, including budgeting, purchasing, and project prioritization.
  • Experience in sourcing, verifying, and approving materials, equipment, and supplies to meet quality and safety standards.
  • Knowledge of OSHA and EPA regulations with a commitment to compliance and environmental guidelines.
  • Skilled in operating and maintaining heavy machinery, powered equipment, and vehicles safely and efficiently.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve facility-related issues.
  • Effective leadership capabilities, including coaching third-party providers and conducting performance evaluations.
  • Ability to plan and execute seasonal exterior maintenance and facility upgrades to optimize sustainability and cost-efficiency.
  • 2 years' experience in the landscaping/gardening industry.
  • Valid state-issued driver's license

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s degree or equivalent in Engineering, Maintenance, Construction Management, or related area.
  • Experience in third-party management.
  • Experience using intermediate level functionality of word processing, spreadsheet, email, and presentation software (for example, Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • State/local licensing where required (for example, Florida, Texas, California).

Responsibilities

  • Manage and prioritize exterior facility service projects, ensuring timely completion and quality standards.
  • Prepare and execute budgets, including cost estimates and purchase approvals for materials and equipment.
  • Conduct inspections and quality assurance to maintain compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
  • Operate and maintain vehicles and powered equipment, performing safety checks and coordinating required maintenance.
  • Lead and evaluate third-party providers, providing coaching and performance feedback.
  • Troubleshoot facility issues and communicate effectively with users to resolve concerns.
  • Implement sustainable upgrades and assess landscaping and maintenance needs to optimize operations.
