About The Position
The Technician, Facility Services, Exterior Services, manages and executes exterior maintenance projects to support safe, efficient, and compliant facility operations. The role coordinates resources, oversees scheduled work, maintains equipment, and follows safety and environmental regulations. It requires troubleshooting, quality assurance, cost control, and communication with facility users and third-party providers. The Technician also identifies opportunities to improve sustainability and reduce operating costs. The Exterior Services Technician team maintains Walmart facilities through landscaping, snow removal, and seasonal upkeep. Team members manage projects, coordinate resources, oversee third-party providers, and support safety and environmental compliance. The team emphasizes communication, collaboration, accountability, continuous improvement, and maintaining clean, safe, welcoming environments year-round.
Requirements
- At least 2 years of experience in the landscaping/gardening industry.
- Valid state-issued driver's license.
- Experience in facility maintenance and exterior services, including seasonal landscaping and snow removal operations.
- Knowledge of OSHA and EPA regulations and ability to ensure safety and environmental compliance.
- Ability to manage budgets, approve purchases, and conduct cost comparisons for materials and equipment.
- Ability to safely and efficiently operate and inspect heavy machinery and powered equipment.
- Ability to lead third-party providers and conduct quality assurance inspections.
- Effective communication skills to assess and resolve customer concerns professionally.
- Commitment to company policies, ethics, and integrity.
Nice To Haves
- Associate’s degree or equivalent in Engineering, Maintenance, Construction Management, or a related area.
- Experience in third-party management.
- Experience using intermediate-level word processing, spreadsheet, email, and presentation software, such as Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
- State or local licensing where required, for example in Florida, Texas, or California.
Responsibilities
- Manage daily exterior services operations and ensure projects and assignments are completed on time.
- Prepare and execute budgets, including developing accurate cost estimates for planned and requested projects.
- Approve purchases of parts, materials, equipment, and supplies, and verify receipt and acceptance.
- Lead and coach third-party providers; conduct performance evaluations and quality assurance inspections.
- Perform seasonal exterior maintenance, including snow and ice management, landscaping, and equipment servicing.
- Operate and maintain vehicles and heavy machinery in accordance with safety and regulatory standards.
- Identify and implement facility upgrades to improve sustainability and reduce operating costs.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and company policies, promoting a safe and ethical work environment.
- Assess and resolve customer concerns professionally.
