About The Position

The Flooring Solutions Technician role coordinates with the leadership team to provide exemplary customer service and demonstrate skill in the use, operation, setup, and repair of company equipment. The technician maintains a professional demeanor and appearance while cleaning equipment, performing preventive maintenance, and making repairs safely and effectively to minimize downtime. The role includes checking in returned equipment, preparing equipment for rent, performing maintenance and repairs, managing parts and equipment records, coordinating deliveries and service calls, and delivering and installing rented equipment. The technician also maintains the warehouse, wash bay, company vehicle, tools, and supplies. The position requires availability on a rotating schedule for emergency service calls on weekends and evenings.

Requirements

3–5 years of mechanic experience with internal-combustion engines, propane, electrical systems, and hydraulics.
High school diploma or GED.
Provide mechanic’s tools of the trade.
Excellent troubleshooting skills.
Ability to prioritize work assignments.
Ability to work independently and remain flexible regarding work assignments.
Ability to adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
High degree of safety awareness.
Working knowledge of equipment design and safety requirements.
Valid driver’s license and an excellent driving record free from points.

Nice To Haves

Some trade school or equivalent training.
Prior floor care equipment experience.

Responsibilities

Perform check-ins when equipment is returned to the shop.
Assist with loading and unloading equipment as needed.
Clean, pressure wash, prepare, and detail equipment for repairs and rent-ready status.
Perform full-service maintenance, diagnose equipment issues, and repair most mechanical problems.
Maintain a safe work environment and perform duties in accordance with safety standards.
Track rental equipment inventory and coordinate deliveries, pickups, and service calls with customers.
Maintain the warehouse area.
Clean, repair, order, and install parts needed to meet standards.
Source and manage inventory of parts and supplies.
Complete and maintain equipment service records, including damage repairs, preventive maintenance, and warranty processing.
Replace decals and ensure equipment is cleaned and detailed.
Operate the company vehicle safely and maintain a valid driver’s license and an excellent driving record free from points.
Maintain company vehicle records and upkeep, including washing, oil changes, and general safety inspections; report defects or unusual performance to the supervisor.
Maintain and track company tools and supplies, and bring broken tools to the supervisor for replacement.
Oversee and maintain the wash bay to ensure proper upkeep, preventive maintenance, and a safe, clean work environment.
Communicate professionally with customers, managers, and sales engineers to schedule deliveries, pickups, and service calls.
Complete appropriate paperwork for deliveries, pickups, and service calls.
Direct customers to sign appropriate paperwork and track serial numbers.
Deliver and install rented equipment and train authorized operators or customers in safe equipment use.
Implement proper and safe procedures.
Work with managers and rental specialists to maintain accurate records and tracking of in-stock and rented equipment.
Participate in a rotating on-call schedule for emergency service response on weekends and evenings.
