About The Position

Reporting to the Manager - Governance & Operational Excellence, the Technical Writer will play a key role in standardizing organizational knowledge, translating complex technical processes into clear, actionable SOPs, and ensuring consistent communication across all levels of the business — from deep-dive API guides to executive-level performance reporting.

Requirements

  • 3+ years experience in full-cycle project engineering, from initial component design and technical troubleshooting to the industrial implementation of advanced technological solutions.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Technical Writing, Communications, Information Technology, a related field with a minimum of 3 years of pertinent experience.
  • Demonstrated experience producing and maintaining diverse forms of technical and operational process documentation.
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Strong planning, organizational, time management skills.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and process-driven.
  • Work independently and efficiently in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple documentation efforts in parallel.
  • Ability to extract complex technical details from SMEs and reformat them into simplified, logical sequences for diverse audiences
  • Mastery of structured writing techniques (e.g., DITA or Information Mapping) to create high-reliability Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Expertise in Version Control Systems (VCS) and document lifecycle management to track revisions and approvals.
  • Skill in using tools like Power BI, Tableau, or advanced Excel to structure data-driven reports for the PMO.
  • A foundational understanding of critical infrastructure (Power, Cooling, Controls) to accurately document engineering workflows.
  • Ability to use Visio, Lucidchart, or Creative Cloud to create process flowmaps and technical illustrations.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in data centers is an asset.
  • Experience working with operational systems such as EQMS, ERP, CMMS platforms, or documenting data center operations, compliance-driven environments, and documentation best practices is considered an asset.
  • Experience supporting operational processes such as change management, incident management, and other business or workflow procedures is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Write, design, and update a wide range of technical documentation, including process maps, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), technical specifications, API documentation, installation guides, user manuals, and detailed project reports.
  • Work closely with subject matter experts (SMEs) across various departments (e.g., IT, Engineering, Operations) to capture complex technical information and translate it into clear, concise, and structured documentation.
  • Edit, proofread, and standardize documents created by other team members for clarity, grammar, consistency, and adherence to established organizational style guides.
  • Tailor content and presentation style based on the target audience (e.g., highly technical engineers vs. non-technical executives).
  • Translate technical documentation between English and French to support regional operations and compliance requirements.
  • Assist the PMO and project managers by structuring and writing clear, data-driven reports for executive-level consumption, summarizing project status, risks, and performance.
  • Establish and maintain a standardized documentation repository and knowledge management system (e.g., SharePoint, Confluence), ensuring proper version control and accessibility.
  • Help develop and maintain the organizational style guide, voice, and terminology to ensure all external and internal communications are consistent.
  • Stay current with industry best practices in technical writing, content design, and documentation governance, and apply them where appropriate.
  • Continuously refine documentation practices and apply new techniques to improve the clarity, usability, and efficiency of process content.
